Edward J. Holland, MD
Dr. Edward Holland is currently the Director of Cornea Services at Cincinnati Eye Institute and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to this position, Dr. Holland held the Elias Potter Lyon Chair and was Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Cornea Service at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Holland formerly served as the past President for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, was a Board of Trustee member and Secretariat for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Chair and Medical Advisory Board member for the Eye Bank Association of America, and past President and current Board Member of the Cornea Society. An internationally recognized expert in corneal surgery with over 250 peer reviewed publications, Dr. Holland is the recipient of the Castroviejo Award from the Cornea Society, the Life Achievement Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Binkhorst Medal from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Paton Society Award from the Eye Bank Association. Dr. Holland received his MD at Loyola-Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago and trained in Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. He completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the University of Iowa, and then completed a second fellowship in ocular immunology at the National Eye Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Holland has made several visits to China to teach corneal transplantation techniques since 1987.
